the terrifying photo shopped secrets of president barack hussein obama. did you know his emotional name is hussein? the conspiracies about the president get even more conspiratorial than they have in years past. >>> we're beginning with a big deal, a story you will not see anywhere else, because it is an nbc news exclusive. nbc's national investigative correspondent michael isikoff has uncovered something that is not classified, but treated as one of the biggest secrets of this administration. it's something the administration has been fighting over with newspapers and with congress and with all different sorts of groups suing them who have been trying to contain what mike isikoff has gotten closer than anybody else to naming. and it is happening right in the midst of really big changes happening right now in national security in washington. today in washington, of course, was secretary of state john kerry's first day on the job. he was sworn in on friday after his confirmation hearing and his confirmation vote process that were frankly a breeze. in the end, the senate vote was nearly u

president obama was first elected. he was elected on november 4th, 2008. and after the partisan combat of that election faded quickly and the country absorbed that this was going to be our new president of the united states, the approval ratings for barack obama soared. his approval rates went to 79%. by inauguration day 2009, nearly two million people would turn out on the national mall to see him sworn in. it was a heady, heady time whether or not you had voted for him. but of course that was not true for everybody. election day was november 4th. november 10th, so six days later, not even a week later, there was one republican congressman from georgia who was already denouncing the president-elect as both a marxist and a nazi. if you think about it, it's kind of a hard thing to pull off simultaneously, right? a marxist and a nazi? look at the time stamp here. november 10th, 2008. congressman paul broun of georgia telling the associated press already at that point that he, quote, fears that president-elect obama will establish a gestapo-like security force to impose a marxist dictator

and peace report. i'm amy goodman. the obama administration has agreed to show two congressional panels the stated legal rationale for assassinating u.s. citizens overseas. on thursday, the white house directed the justice department to release a controversial 2010 memo to the house and senate intelligence committees. the memo details the administration's legal justification for targeting the american-born cleric anwar al awlaki, who ultimately died in u.s. drone strike in yemen. the memo's release follows growing calls from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle for access to the administration's guidelines for drone strikes and other attacks targeting u.s. citizens overseas. a bipartisan senate letter demanding the memos earlier this week had accused the white house of "practicing secret law." it also follows this week's leaking of a white memo that allows for the killing of americans through an expansive definition of what constitutes an imminent threat. at a news conference in washington, attorney general eric holder was asked what he is releasing the drone memos publicly after disclo
